Moving ChefWorks Malta onto Shopify.

ChefWorks Malta sells chef apparel and kitchen equipment. Its old website was holding the shop back, so I moved it onto Shopify with a custom-built theme. For this business a well-run platform was the better answer than a fully custom build.

MY WORK

Platform choice · Migration to Shopify · Custom theme design and development

01 / THE CHALLENGE

The problem

The old site made it hard to browse the range, order and manage stock. The shop needed to present a specialist product range clearly, fit the familiar patterns of an online shop, and be something the business could run day to day without a developer.

02 / THE APPROACH

What I built

01

The right platform

Shopify gave ChefWorks products, collections, checkout, payments and stock management out of the box. I recommend a platform whenever it fits the case better than custom software, and here it did.

02

Migration

Products, collections and content moved from the old site into the store's structure, so nothing was lost and the range could grow.

03

Custom theme

A theme built for the range: homepage with the apparel line and the store's promises, collection pages with filters and sorting, and product pages with colour and size options, sizing charts and custom embroidery.

WHO THIS SUITS

Suits retailers with an underperforming website who need a shop they can run themselves.

03 / THE RESULT

An underperforming site moved onto Shopify with a custom theme.

A shop that works for the business, on the platform that suited it. The lesson carries across projects: the best option for the scenario, whether that is a platform, a custom build or a mix.
